This is the third of eight volumes devoted to Marcello's large collection of sacred music, which was also originally published in eight volumes. The music, scored for one to three solo voices and continuo, sets psalm paraphrases by the Venetian poet Girolamo Ascanio Giustiniani. This edition is based on the first print of the third volume, published by Domenico Lovisa in 1724.
