F.A.E. - "Free Aber Einsam" (Free, yet lonely). The origin of this sonata dated back to a concert given by Joseph Joachim in Duesseldorf in October 1853 It was Schumann's idea to surprise Joachim and have Dietrich write the first movement, himself the Intermezzo and Finale and Brahms the Scherzo.
