Vredeman, Jaques, (C.1558-1621.)
Vredeman was a composer active in Leeuwarden around the turn of the 17th century. His Musica Miscella of 1602 contains four-voice Frisian villanellas, four-voice French chansons, five-voice French chansons, five-voice Italian madrigals, and five-voice Frisian villanellas. This edition also contains works by Vredeman found in three other collections:Livre septième des chansons vulgaires de diverses auteurs a quatre parties (Amsterdam, 1608) -- Isagoge musicae (Ljouwert, 1618) -- and Die Friesche Lust-hof (Amsterdam, 1621). With an introduction in Frisian and English, bibliography, and critical commentary.
