An opera in three acts. With a preface in English and German. Textual notes. Haydn composed this opera on a commission from Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy, and it was premiered in 1768. The opera sets a modified version of a 1754 libretto by Carlo Goldoni. This edition is based on the 1959 edition published by Henle as part of its Haydn Complete Works edition.
