In one movement. With a preface by Hermann Max in German, English and French. This work was composed on a text by Pierre Corneille (1606-1684), from his devotional book L'imitation de Jésus-Christ. The music was first published in Paris, 1859. This edition includes singing texts in the original French, and in German translations by Wilfried Grauert.
