With program and performance notes. Commissioned by the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard. Premiered by Speculum Musicae in January 1981. Dedicated to Paul Fromm. An open form work in which the mezzo does not sing text, and is used as an instrument in the ensemble. The rest of the scoring is alto flute, bass clarinet, piano/celeste, percussion, violin, viola and cello. Duration ca. 20 minutes. Custom print edition.
