Gumboots : For Clarinet (Bass Clarinet) and String Quartet.

In two parts. Part 2 consists of a series of five dances. With program and performance notes. Commissioned by the Carnegie Hall Corporation. Premiered in October, 2008 by Todd Palmer and the St. Lawrence String Quartet. The music takes inspiration from gumboot dancing, a style developed by black miners in South Africa, working under the brutal labor conditions of Apartheid.
