A highly prolific composer, Tarchi was born in Naples. His operatic works enjoyed great success both in Naples and Rome; also, later in Florence and Milan, where La Scala invited him to compose an opera seria "Ariarte" in 1787/8. He composed over 50 operas, symphonic works and religious music.
