| Composer of the Month October 2019: Leanna Primiani | |
 Leanna Primiani’s musical voice is unique and wide-ranging, featuring works for orchestra, band, chamber ensemble, solo instruments, chorus and solo voice, film, multimedia, and sound installation. Her works have been performed in the US and abroad by the Nashville Symphony, the Cabrillo Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Ensemble Aventure Freiburg (Germany), and the Centre de Création Musicale Iannis Xenakis. The Seattle Collaborative Orchestra commissioned and recently premiered ‘1001,’ an accompanying ‘side-by-side’ piece to Rimsky-Korsakov’s 'Scheherazade.' Primiani is a trained flutist and earned her DMA in Composition from University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. She has studied with noted composers and conductors Steven Stucky, Howard Shore, Leonard Slatkin and Peter Eötvös. Leanna is also a distinguished conductor and has conducted for the LA Opera, National Symphony, California Opera Association, and served as the music director for the Central California Ballet. She is a member of The Alliance of Women Film Composers, The Society of Composers and Lyricists, and a voting member of The Recording Academy. Her music is published by Subito.
