| Composer of the Month November 2024: Gemma Peacocke | |
 Gemma Peacocke is a composer from Aotearoa New Zealand. She lives in an old farmhouse in Hopewell, New Jersey. Peacocke has a particular interest in mythmaking and haunting as well as interdisciplinary collaboration. Her first album, Waves & Lines, sets poems by Afghan women, and was released on New Amsterdam in March 2019. Peacocke is co-founder of the Kinds of Kings composer collective which focuses on amplifying and advocating for under-heard voices in classical music. A joint Ph.D. candidate in Music and Humanistic Studies at Princeton University, she previously studied with Julia Wolfe at NYU Steinhardt and at the New Zealand School of Music. Peacocke has been commissioned by HOCKET, Eighth Blackbird, the Auckland Philharmonia, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, Third Coast Percussion, ~Nois, PUBLIQuartet, Bang on a Can, Rubiks Collective, and Alarm Will Sound.
