Mozart In Salzburg and Beyond : New Perspectives / edited by Simon P. Keefe.
Ann Arbor: Steglein Publishers ©2024
From May 26–29, 2022 scholars from around the world met in Salzburg, Austria, to attend a conference sponsored by the Mozart Society of America, the Society for Eighteenth-Century Music, and the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg, which was hosted by the Mozarteum. Thirteen of the conference papers, revised and expanded for this volume, capture varied approaches to people, places, ideas, works and trends outside as well as within Salzburg, addressing three major themes: Mozart in Salzburg and Beyond; Church Music in Salzburg; and Mozart and Opera. Irrespective of the distance travelled beyond Salzburg in this volume, the chapters collectively affirm its continued inspiration for Mozartian scholarly endeavors, and represent a substantial new contribution to scholar-ship on the town’s musical culture and its most famous son.--Publisher’s website.
