Edited by Patricia Kleinman. Viardot-Garcia and Chopin were long-time friends, and played together regularly in the early 1840s. She used Chopin's mazurkas as the basis for several songs, using texts in French and Spanish by Louis-Edmond Pomey and Antonio de Iza Zamacola. This edition features the first publication of the song La tortolilla triste, based on Chopin's Op. 17 No. 2. With a preface and editor's notes.
