Spanish soprano and composer, Colbran moved to Paris in 1801 to study with Luigi Cherubini. Later she settled in Italy where she enjoyed a successful career: between 1815 and 1823 Rossini composed 18 operas for her voice & they were married in 1823, later divorced in 1836. She composed 4 coll. of songs.
