In one movement. With program notes in English and Spanish. Dedicated to cellists Michael Sanderling, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, and Hansjakob Eschenburg, and to the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. Premiered in October 2007. The piece is based on the German song Die Moorsoldated, which was brought to Spain by Germans fighting against Franco in the Spanish Civil War. Duration ca. 22 minutes.
