Dedicated to Madame Cuthbert. Dizi was a harpist and the inventor of the unsuccessful "perpendicular harp." He wrote and published a treatise on the harp and, in 1930, went to Paris and established a harp factory with Pleyel. He was eventually appointed harp teacher to the royal princesses.
