Composed before 1778, the year the Goettweig monastery acquire a copy of the work. Stylistically, the Missa belongs to the mainstream of the 18th- century Viennese concerted mass tradition. The editor considers Wanhal's use of the organ as a concertato instrument as unusual, yet not entirely new.
