Commissioned by Robin Hough. The title is taken from the name of Venice's cemetery island. Alternating agitated sections and lyrical passages based on the beginning of the second mvnt of Alessandro Marcello's Concerto for Oboe & Strings, of which a quote is heard in the end of this piece.
